We firmly believe that the internet should be accessible to everyone, and we do our utmost to ensure that our website is accessible to as wide an audience as possible, regardless of their circumstances or level of ability.

To achieve this, we endeavour to strictly adhere to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 (WCAG 2.1) at Level AA, as developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). Compliance with these guidelines helps to ensure that the website is accessible to everyone: people who are blind, have mobility impairments, visual impairments, cognitive disabilities and other disabilities.

Screen readers and keyboard navigation

Our website uses ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) and various behavioural adjustments to ensure that blind users of screen readers can read, understand and use the website’s features. When a user with a screen reader visits the website, they are immediately prompted to switch to Screen Reader mode, which allows them to navigate the site effectively. Below, we outline how our website meets the key requirements for screen readers, along with examples of the code:

1. Optimisation for screen readers: We run a background process that analyses the page structure and ensures compliance even whilst the page is being updated. As part of this process, we provide screen readers with the relevant information using ARIA attributes. For example, we add labels to forms, descriptions of icons (e.g. social media, search, shopping basket), validation messages for forms, and element roles (buttons, menus, modal windows, etc.). This process also analyses all images and adds alternative descriptions generated on the basis of object recognition. OCR technology is also used to recognise text embedded within images. To activate screen reader mode at any time, press the Alt+1 key combination. Screen reader users also receive an automatic notification about the availability of this mode as soon as they visit the site.

   These adjustments are compatible with all popular screen readers, including JAWS and NVDA.

2. Optimising keyboard navigation: A background process modifies the HTML and adds the necessary functionality via JavaScript, enabling the website to be navigated using only the keyboard. This includes navigation using the Tab and Shift+Tab keys, operating drop-down lists using the arrow keys, closing them with the Esc key, activating buttons and links using the Enter key, and operating checkboxes and radio buttons using the arrow keys and the space bar. Keyboard users also have access to the quick navigation menu (Alt+1) or via the first element on the page. Furthermore, in the case of pop-up windows, focus is automatically transferred to them to prevent it from being lost.

   You can also use the following keyboard shortcuts: “M” (menu), “H” (headings), “F” (forms), “B” (buttons), “G” (graphics), to quickly jump to specific elements.

Accessibility profiles supported on the website

• Safe mode for people with epilepsy: eliminates the risk of attacks caused by flashing animations and dangerous colour combinations.
• Accessibility mode: adapts the website for people with visual impairments (cataracts, glaucoma, tunnel vision, etc.).
• Mode for people with cognitive impairments: It offers features designed to help people with dyslexia, autism, stroke and other conditions to focus on the content.
• ADHD-friendly mode: It enables people with ADHD and neurodevelopmental disorders to focus on the main elements of the page, minimising distractions.
• Accessibility mode: Configuration compatible with screen readers (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, TalkBack).
• Keyboard navigation mode (for people with mobility impairments): Navigation using Tab, Shift+Tab and Enter, as well as the shortcuts M, H, F, B and G.

Further improvements to the interface, appearance and readability

1. Font customisation – Users can change the size, font, spacing, alignment, line height and other text parameters.
2. Colour adjustment – The following contrast profiles are available: light, dark, inverted and monochrome. You can also change the colours of text, backgrounds and headings in various combinations.
3. Animations – People with epilepsy can disable all animations (videos, GIFs, CSS transitions) with a single click.
4. Highlighting content – the ability to highlight links and headings, as well as elements pointed to by the cursor or focus.
5. Sound dampening – an option to mute the page immediately for people with hearing aids or who are sensitive to sound.
6. Support for people with cognitive impairments – The search function, linked to Wikipedia and Wiktionary, allows you to look up abbreviations, idioms, slang and so on.
7. Additional features – changing the colour and size of the cursor, print mode, the on-screen keyboard and other options.

We strive to ensure the widest possible compatibility with all browsers and assistive technologies, so that users can make use of the tools best suited to their needs. That is why we support all major systems, covering over 95% of the market: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, Opera and Microsoft Edge, as well as the JAWS and NVDA screen readers.
